The Great Wall of Lucy Wu is about a girl who thinks her sixth grade year will be perfect. Her snobby older sister is going to collage and Lucy will have a whole room to herself! She and her best friend Maggie are going to redecorate Lucy's whole room. Lucy also plans on being the basketball team leader.! Everything is going well until about a week before sixth grade. Talent Chang, Lucy and Maggie's enemy is starting a Chinese class that is on the same day as basketball practice! It gets worse from there. Yi Po, Lucy's beloved grandmother died about three months ago, and Lucy is still devastated. News has come from Lucy's father that Yi Po had a sister.
