Close to Famous
Foster and her mother have gotten along pretty well since Foster's father died in war. Her mom has a new boyfriend who's kind of weird, and foster loves to bake. Everything is going fine until Foster's mom tries to end her relationship with Houck. Houck is a scary Elvis impersonator, and when he hears this, he is not happy. Late one night, Houck breaks in to their house and hits Foster's mom. They leave in a panic, and three days later, they are in the small town of peppercorn. They get a place to stay, and Foster starts to bake again. Everything is well until she meets Miss Charleena, the famous Hollywood acress.

The sixty-eight rooms
Ruthie is a normal Chicagoan who just wants adventure. When she and her best friend Jack go to the art institute on a feild trip, they visit the Thorne rooms. There, Jack meets a friendly security guard who lets them go behind the rooms. As they are walking along the corridor, jack sees something and picks it up. Ruthie later finds that it is a key! They both think it is a normal key, until ruthie holds it. She begins to tingle, glow, and eventually shrink! She is small enough to walk through all of the 68 rooms, and while she is exploring she finds a diary, and another small girl entrapped in the rooms.
